Chief Technology Officer
Reports to: Board of Directors
Location: Fully remote. Team spans Thailand to US East Coast; candidate must sustain meaningful
daily overlap with European working hours. Periodic on-sites in Europe (approx. quarterly).
Commitment: Full-time
Mission
Own the technical vision, architecture, and engineering organization end to end. The CTO is the single point of
accountability for the technology function from the multi-year direction of the oracle stack to the security posture of
every feed in production and the strategic technical voice to partners, auditors, the DAO, and the board.
Technical vision & strategy
- Define and own the multi-year technical roadmap for the oracle infrastructure (data sourcing, on-chain
delivery, the L2/rollup stack, multi-chain expansion), aligned to the enterprise and institutional growth strategy.
- Make the build-vs-buy, protocol-design, and platform-bet decisions; hold final authority on all architecture
decisions across the stack.
- Translate commercial strategy into technical strategy and exercise the authority to decline technical bets that
don't serve it.
Platform scaling, security & quality
- Own the plan to scale the platform for 10x-100x load: audit the current stack, define the target architecture,
sequence the hardening work.
- Hold ultimate accountability for the security and data integrity of feeds -- the audit cadence, threat model,
key-management standards, and remediation of critical risks. (Day-to-day security operations are executed by
the Head of Technical Operations; accountability for the overall posture rests with the CTO.)
- Hold ultimate accountability for engineering quality management -- standards, incident-review rigor, and
continuous improvement of production quality processes. (Day-to-day quality management is executed by the
Head of Technical Operations; accountability for the overall standard rests with the CTO.)
- Commission and act on a full production risk audit within the first 90 days.
Engineering organization
- Own engineering budget, headcount planning, hiring, leveling and compensation framework, and org design.
- Build the engineering organization from its current size (~6 including leadership) to what the roadmap
requires; personally lead senior technical hiring.
- Define delivery process, engineering standards, and operating rhythm across the technical org.
- Directly manage the engineering team, including the Head of Technical Operations (operating line; see
governance note in the companion role description).
External technical representation
- Serve as strategic technical voice: technical partnerships, security auditors, institutional prospects at the decision level, and technical governance within the DAO.
- Represent technology and technical risk to the board.
Explicitly not owned
- Product roadmap prioritization (Product team; CTO partners on feasibility and sequencing).
- Day-to-day DevOps, production operations, security incident execution, quality management execution, and
customer integration/technical sales delivery (Head of Technical Operations) -- the CTO retains overall
accountability for security and quality standards even though execution sits with the Head of Technical
Operations.
- Board governance matters reserved to the board itself.
Tech Stack
- Languages: Go, Solidity, Python, TypeScript, small amounts of Rust
- Components: Postgres, TimescaleDB, Redis
- Infrastructure: AWS EKS, ArgoCD, GitHub pipelines, Tekton, Grafana
- External dependencies: Custom rollup EVM network hosted by Conduit
Candidate Profile
Must-have
- 10+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years as CTO / VP Engineering / Head of Platform with
genuine ownership of technical direction (not only delivery).
- Proven Web3 scale-up track record -- grew a protocol or infrastructure company through a significant scaling
phase.
- Deep oracle or data-infrastructure expertise (Chainlink, Pyth, UMA, Band, or equivalent domain depth).
- Hands-on credibility in high-availability distributed systems (Kubernetes, cloud-native, multi-chain delivery) --
this is a player-coach role at current team size; the CTO must be able to go deep in the code on the hardest
problems.
- Security-first engineering mindset: threat modelling, smart-contract risk, key management.
- Track record of building engineering teams (0 -> 1 and 1 -> N) and of managing senior engineers including, in
this case, a co-founder.
Strong differentiators
- Experience operating at both protocol and application layer; DeFi primitives and on-chain data-delivery
mechanics.
- Enterprise or institutional blockchain deployment experience.
- Open-source standing in the Web3 ecosystem.
- Prior experience joining a founder-led company as an external executive
