We’re supporting a leading GameTech company in Greece to hire a Senior Backend Engineer (Greece) to help build and scale real-time, high-traffic systems on a modern .NET stack.
The role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll join a cross-functional squad and take end-to-end ownership of backend services that power millions of user interactions. You’ll design and implement clean, robust APIs and services, work on performance-critical paths, and help evolve a distributed, event?driven architecture.
You will:
-
Design, implement, and maintain backend services and APIs using C# and .NET / .NET Core in a microservices environment.
-
Work on high-volume, low-latency features, ensuring reliability, scalability, and observability from day one.
-
Use asynchronous messaging and event-driven patterns to connect services and support real-time product experiences.
-
Take features from idea to production: requirements refinement, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release improvements.
-
Own the quality of your services: testing (unit/integration), monitoring, logging, metrics, and incident handling.
-
Collaborate closely with Product, QA, Frontend, Data, and SRE engineers in an agile setup, contributing to planning and technical decisions.
-
Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, suggesting improvements to patterns, performance, and operational resilience.
-
Mentor less experienced engineers, sharing best practices around design, coding, and operating backend services in production.
What we’re looking for
-
Several years of experience building production backend systems with C# and .NET / .NET Core.
-
Proven work in large scale, in-house product platforms or similarly demanding environments (high traffic, strict SLAs).
-
Solid understanding of microservices and distributed systems, including asynchronous messaging (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar) and common resiliency patterns.
-
Good knowledge of web fundamentals (HTTP, REST), API design, and secure, robust integration patterns.
-
Hands-on experience with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server) and at least one caching/NoSQL technology is a plus.
-
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerised environments, logging, metrics, and monitoring for services in production.
-
Comfortable working in agile teams, communicating clearly, and taking ownership of complex problems end-to-end.
-
A strong focus on writing high quality, maintainable code and continuously improving systems, tools, and processes.
Location & setup
-
Based in Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, or remote in-country), with a hybrid option if you are near an office.
-
Full-time permanent role with competitive compensation, annual bonus, monthly allowance, private healthcare, learning budget, and modern equipment.
If you’re a backend-focused engineer who enjoys working on real-time, high-traffic .NET systems and wants both impact and technical depth, this role is a strong next step.
